SIKESTON -- Nellie Ann Brewer, 96, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at Sikeston Convalescent Center. She was born Oct. 5, 1901, in Batesville, Ark., daughter of Preston B. and Julia Mariah Cornish Barrett. She and Nelson Brewer were married Feb. 2, 1919, in Batesville. He died Oct. 28, 1972...

SIKESTON -- Nellie Ann Brewer, 96, died Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.

She was born Oct. 5, 1901, in Batesville, Ark., daughter of Preston B. and Julia Mariah Cornish Barrett. She and Nelson Brewer were married Feb. 2, 1919, in Batesville. He died Oct. 28, 1972.

Brewer moved to Missouri in 1989 from Batesville. She was a member of West Batesville Baptist Church and LLL Sunday School Class.

Survivors include a son, Leon Brewer of Lake Charles, La.; a daughter, Nelsene Hillhouse of Charleston; 10 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by a daughter and two grandsons.

Friends may call at Crouch Funeral Home in Batesville from 5-9 p.m. Wednesday.

Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Bob Daily officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Zion Cemetery at Batesville.
