DELTA, Mo. -- Nelle Rhodes Dalton, 87, of Delta died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. She was born Nov. 22, 1913, at Toga, Mo., the daughter of the late William and Ida Mae Overbey Rhodes. She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the Whitewater United Methodist Church and Whitewater UMV. On Oct. 9, 1931, she was married to Leonard W. Dalton at Herrin, Ill. He preceded her in death Dec. 30, 1991...

DELTA, Mo. -- Nelle Rhodes Dalton, 87, of Delta died Thursday, Nov. 23, 2000, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Nov. 22, 1913, at Toga, Mo., the daughter of the late William and Ida Mae Overbey Rhodes. She was a homemaker and a lifetime member of the Whitewater United Methodist Church and Whitewater UMV. On Oct. 9, 1931, she was married to Leonard W. Dalton at Herrin, Ill. He preceded her in death Dec. 30, 1991.

She was a 50-year member of the Whitewater Order of Eastern Star #174. She also was a 40-year member of the Republican Committee of Women of Welch Township of Cape Girardeau County.

Survivors include four sons: Bill Dalton of Festus, Mo., Darris Dalton of Jackson, Mo., Max Dalton of Whitewater and Wayne Dalton of Brownwood, Texas; three daughters, Nelda Crader of Jackson, Mo., Genda Schuh of Memphis, Tenn., and Suda Crawford of St. Louis; one sister, Bernice "Sis" Hinkle of Advance, Mo.; 20 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by one grandson, six brothers and three sisters.

Friends may call from 3:30-8 p.m. today at Morgan Funeral Chapel in Advance, Mo. Order of Eastern Star rites will begin at 7 p.m.

Funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, the Revs. Tom Zych and Jim Crawford officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery near Advance.
