MARION, Ill. -- Nell Jean Lingle, age 86, of Marion, formerly of Tamms, Ill., passed away at 3:38 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, 2011, at her residence in Marion.
Jean was born Aug. 1, 1924, in Alexander County, Ill., daughter of the late John Logan Crider and Dora Rachel Crider.
Jean was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Marion, former member of the Villa Ridge Union Church and a housewife and homemaker. Jean moved to Marion to be closer to her daughter where she resided for the past five years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Kenneth E. "Poss" Lingle on Oct. 20, 1999.
Survivors include a daughter, Patricia A. Lingle, Marion; a sister, Genevieve Hendrick, Ullin, Ill.; nieces, Carolyn Sue Campbell and Kim Reagan; and nephews, Larry Hendrick and John Crider.
Memorial services for Jean Lingle will be at 2 p.m. Feb. 6 at the Villa Ridge Union Church, with Pastor Larry Buckles officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John's Cemetery near Dongola, Ill.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of memorials to the American Cancer Society, 4503 W. Deyoung Ste. 200 C, Marion, IL 62959 in memory of Jean Lingle.
