Nelda Ruth Braswell, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital. She was born Sept. 28, 1915, in Jackson, daughter of Perle Otis and Ula Grace Shaner Taylor. She and John W. Braswell were married June 24, 1939, in St. Louis. He died Sept. 22, 2001...

Nelda Ruth Braswell, 87, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, June 3, 2003, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Sept. 28, 1915, in Jackson, daughter of Perle Otis and Ula Grace Shaner Taylor. She and John W. Braswell were married June 24, 1939, in St. Louis. He died Sept. 22, 2001.

Braswell was a graduate of Bonne Terre High School and Flat River Junior College, and attended Southeast Missouri State University.

She taught elementary school at Fruitland, Bonne Terre and Pacific, Mo. She moved to Cape Girardeau in 1962 and she and her husband started Sanisoft Water Service, of which she was office manager. She had been a volunteer at Southeast Hospital and at Red Cross blood drives, was a member of Centenary United Methodist Church, and was a charter member of Rose City Business and Professional Women's Club.

Survivors include a daughter, Becki Miller of Cape Girardeau; two sons, David Braswell of Farmington, Mo., Dan Braswell of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Mary Ellen Dey of St. Peters, Mo.; seven grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son.

Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. today.

The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with Dr. Clayton Smith officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
