Nathan Lindy Arnold, 84, of Cape Girardeau died Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at his home.
He was born July 29, 1927, in St. Louis, to Ruben and Bertha Gertrude Knee Arnold. He and Anna Marie "Ann" Watson were married Oct. 15, 1946, in Richmond, Calif. She preceded him in death April 7, 2005.
Nathan served in the Navy in the South Pacific during World War II.
He attended SIU-Edwardsville. He was a deputy project manager with the Department of Defense, retiring after more than 30 years. Nathan was a member of St. Mark's Masonic Lodge 93 and a life member of VFW Post 3838 where he served in the honor guard.
Survivors include a son, Dennis Lindy Arnold of Fenton, Mo.; a daughter, Sheryl Ann Mulhall of Hillsboro, Mo.; a sister, Lillie Fields of St. Louis; and two grandchildren, Jason Lindy Arnold and Melanie Wittenauer.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; three brothers, Forest, Floyd and Orby Arnold; and a sister, Dorothy Massey.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Karl Leeman officiating. Entombment will be in Cape County Memorial Park Mausoleum.
