CAIRO, Ill. -- Narvie Flournoy, 92, of Cairo died Monday, Jan. 19, 1998, at Charleston Manor Nursing Center in Charleston, Mo.
He was born Feb. 11, 1905, in Forrest City, Ark., son of Will and Artelia Pruitt Flournoy. He and Parmelia Buford Flournoy were married in 1928. She preceded him in death.
Flournoy was a member of 19th Street First Baptist Church, A.A. Martin Lodge 140 F&AM Jurisdiction of Illinois, and was a 32nd degree Mason with Temple 104 in Cairo.
Survivors include three daughters, Dorothy Wilson of Cleveland, Ohio, Geneva Lands and Armelia Hall of Harvey; three sons, Narvie Flournoy Jr. of Crestwood, Melvin Flournoy of Harvey, Dr. Theo Flournoy of Paris, France; a brother, Fred Flournoy of Gary, Ind.; three sisters, Velma Groundy and Laura Prude of Gary, Helen Cook of California; 34 grandchildren, and numerous great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a son and a daughter.
Friends may call at First Baptist Church from 6-8 p.m. Friday. Masonic service will be at 7.
Funeral service will be at noon Saturday at the church, with Pastor Tyrone Coleman officiating. Burial will be in Spencer Heights Memorial Cemetery at Mounds.
