CAIRO, Ill. -- Nancy J. Wright, 59, of Cairo, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2002, at her home.
She was born May 9, 1942, in South Fulton, Tenn., daughter of Guy and Juette St. Arbor Clutts.
She was advertising director of The Cairo Citizen newspaper and fire commissioner of the Cairo Fire Department. She was serving her third term on the Cairo City Council.
She was a member of the Church of the Redeemer Episcopal Church in Cairo, Cairo Business & Professional Women's Club, Cairo Retail Merchants Association, Order of Eastern Star, Beta Sigma Phi Sorority and served on the board of directors of the Cairo Chamber of Commerce and Cairo Riverboat Days Committee.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Wright of Cairo; her mother, Juette Hicks of Cairo; a son, Michael F. Comer of Bardwell, Ky.; a stepson, Chadwick Wright of Memphis, Tenn.; two grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
She was preceded in death by her father.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. today at Barkett Funeral Home in Cairo.
Funeral Mass will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Church of the Redeemer, with the Rev. Canon Arnold Hoffman, Dr. Larry Potts, and the Rev. Kelly Cox officiating. Burial will be in Old Bardwell Cemetery in Bardwell.
