Nancy Lynn Sander, 71, of Jackson passed away peacefully Wednesday, March 8, 2017, at the home of her sister in Jackson.

Born Jan. 26, 1946, in Cape Girardeau, Lynn and her twin brother, Lane, were the sixth and seventh of 12 children born to William K. "Bill" and Lillie M. "Mae" Limbaugh Sander.

Lynn was a graduate of Parkview State School in Cape Girardeau, formally known as the Cape County Training School.

Her parents, along with several other local couples, were instrumental in establishing the VIP Sheltered Workshop and residential housing for special-needs adults in Cape Girardeau County.

Lynn had been affiliated with the program since its inception in 1969.

After the passing of her mother in 2004, Lynn enjoyed residency at the group home in Jackson until her diagnosis of cancer in January 2017. The past several weeks, Lynn had been able to spend much quality time with her family, many of whom traveled great distances to be with her.

Lynn loved Sunday school and worship services. She was a lifelong member of New McKendree United Methodist Church in Jackson and in recent years faithfully attended Shawnee Hills Baptist Church in Jackson.

Essentially, Lynn was happiest when she was with people. She liked to travel with her family and enjoyed gatherings of all kinds, especially if a celebration was involved.

Lynn was confident of her salvation, and a phrase she commonly used was, "You pray for me, and I pray for you." She looked forward to going to heaven and being with Jesus and often spoke of it, even before her illness. She also spoke regularly of family members who predeceased her. She is now resting in Christ and reunited with her family in heaven.

Greatly loved and respected, she will be forever missed and remembered by her large family.

Loving survivors include 10 siblings, Ruth (the late Walter) Guilliams of Jackson; Marilyn (the late Ron) Meadows of Manchester, Missouri; Jim (Judy) Sander of Jackson; Tom Sander of Elkhart, Texas; her twin brother, Lane (Connie) Sander of Chesterfield, Missouri; Karen (Bill) Tumbrink of Ellisville, Missouri; Steve (Georgia) Sander of Franklin, Massachusetts; Patricia Smith of Ellisville; John (Pam) Sander of Jackson and David (Christine) Sander of Union, Missouri; a sister-in-law, Linda (the late Bill) Sander of Wieser, Idaho; 66 nieces and nephews; and many great- and great-great-nieces and -nephews.

Lynn was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Bill "Boogie" Sander; a nephew, Jeffery Guilliams; and many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to service time Saturday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Funeral service will be at 11:30 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home, with the Revs. Don Estes and David Israel officiating. Interment will follow in Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to the Regency Management of VIP Industries, Saint Francis Hospice or Shawnee Hills Baptist Church.
