SIKESTON, Mo. -- Myrtle M. Nunnelee, 86, of Sikeston died Friday, Nov. 24, 2000, at Hunter Acres Caring Center in Sikeston.
She was born April 30, 1914, in Sikeston, daughter of Felix Franklin and Lucy Perdew Rogers. She and John F. Nunnelee Jr. were married April 7, 1934, in Benton, Mo. He died Sept. 27, 1999.
She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Sikeston, where she was a member of the adult choir, the Women's Missionary Union and Fidelis Sunday school class. She had been president of each. She had formerly been a member of Baptist churches in Blodgett, Mo., and Charleston, Mo.
She was a 50-year member of the Eastern Star #137 in Sikeston and formerly was a member of the Charleston Chapter #122. She was formerly a member and past president of the Katherine Boone Music Club in Charleston.
She was a member and past president of Beta Sigma Phi, Missouri preceptor. Other memberships included the Athena Club and garden club in Charleston and the garden club in Sikeston.
Survivors include one son, John Roger "Rod" Nunnelee of Charlotte, N.C.; one daughter, Judy Leigh of Sikeston; five grandchildren; and two great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by one sister.
Friends may call from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Nunnelee Funeral Chapel in Sikeston.
Funeral will be at the First Baptist Church in Sikeston at 10:30 a.m. Monday, with Dr. Jim Guffie officiating. Burial will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Charleston.
