SIKESTON, Mo. -- Myrtle Ann Austin, 92, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center. She was born Dec. 15, 1908, in East Prairie, Mo., daughter of William and Belle Farnsworth Streve. She and Jesse Austin were married Dec. 26, 1923. He died April 2, 1976...

SIKESTON, Mo. -- Myrtle Ann Austin, 92, of Sikeston died Wednesday, Feb. 21, 2001, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

She was born Dec. 15, 1908, in East Prairie, Mo., daughter of William and Belle Farnsworth Streve. She and Jesse Austin were married Dec. 26, 1923. He died April 2, 1976.

Austin lived in East Prairie most of her life. She was active in the Foster Grandparents program 20 years in the East Prairie and Sikeston schools. She also worked at Missouri School for the Blind in St. Louis. She was a member of the United Church of God in Cape Girardeau.

Survivors include three sons, Victor Austin of Tehachapi, Calif., Bruce Austin of Charleston, Mo., Kenneth Austin of Arvin, Calif.; a daughter, Leola Anderson of Fairview Heights, Ill.; 12 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and 10 great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by two brothers.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 5-8 p.m. today.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home. David Johnson and the Rev. Richard Combs will officiate. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery.
