SIKESTON -- Myrtie Hillis Lawrence, 94, died Monday, April 3, 1995, in Tucson, Ariz.
She was born Jan. 19, 1901, in Moreland, Ark., daughter of William and Ida Coffman Wright. She first married Grover Hillis, who died in 1959. She later married Lester Lawrence, who died in 1986.
Lawrence lived in Southeast Missouri 53 years. She was a seamstress at Falkoff's Department Store in East Prairie many years, and was a member of First Assembly of God Church in Sikeston.
Survivors include a son, Durrell Hillis of Paradise Valley, Ariz.; two daughters, Vida Carmichael of Tucson, Ida Kendall of Pocahontas, Ark.; a stepdaughter, Lora Hillis Friday of Sweeney, Texas; 10 Lawrence stepchildren; two brothers, Lawrence and Doc Wright of state of California; three sisters, Sylvia Parker and Jewel Goodright of state of Arkansas, Vernell Howard of state of Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren, and a great-great-great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by two sons, a daughter, a granddaughter, and a great-grandson.
Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston from 7-9 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at First Assembly of God Church in Sikeston, with the Rev. Raymond Howard officiating. Burial will be in Essex Cemetery at Essex.
