Myrtha M. Zwosta, 85, formerly of New Wells and a 10-year resident of Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, passed away Sunday, Oct. 9, 2022, at Lutheran Home.

Myrtha and her twin sister, Myra, were born April 5, 1937, in Farrar, Missouri, to Benjamin and Lina A. Kasten Soehl. Myrtha and Myra were baptized at Salem Lutheran Church in Farrar and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church in Uniontown, Missouri.

She and Norman E. Zwosta were married Sept. 10, 1960, at Grace Lutheran Church. Myrtha was a homemaker and worked with Norman on their family farm near New Wells. They had been married 53 years when Norman passed away May 1, 2013.

Myrtha was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells, where she was a member of Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML) and the church cookbook committee.

Loving survivors include, a daughter, Julie Zwosta of Cape Girardeau; two sisters-in-law, Shirley Soehl and Fern Hoffman of Jackson; a brother-in-law, Wayne Jones of Cape Girardeau; five nieces and nephews, Rodney Jones of St. Louis, Marie (Keith) Ruesler of Jackson, Dale (Rhonda) Ludwig of Linn, Missouri, Larry Hoffman of Cape Girardeau and Mark (Dawn) Hoffman of Jackson; and cousins, Doris Bahr and Norman Soehl of Arnold, Missouri.

Myrtha was preceded in death by her parents; husband; siblings, Myra Jones and Kenneth Soehl; sister-in-law, Dorothy Ludwig; two brothers-in-law, Marvin Ludwig and Milton Hoffman; and a nephew, Kenneth Ludwig.

Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in New Wells.

The Rev. Paul Winningham will conduct the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 15, at the church. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials take the form of contributions to Immanuel Lutheran Church or the donor's choice of church or charity.
