Muriel E. Leyerle, 83, of Durango, Colo., died Sunday, Jan. 12, 1997, at Four Corners Health Care Center in Durango.

She was born June 14, 1913, in Sedgewickville. She and Fred L. Leyerle were married June 7, 1930, in Cape Girardeau. He died in 1993.

Leyerle lived and worked in Cape Girardeau until moving to Cardwell in 1935. The Leyerles owned a grocery store there from 1935 until retiring in 1975 and moving to Greers Ferry, Ark. She had lived in Durango since 1993.

Survivors include a son, William Leyerle of Mt. Morris, N.Y.; and a daughter, Dr. Betty Leyerle of Durango.

A memorial service will be held later.
