ANNA, Ill. -- Morris D. Farmer, 75, of Anna died Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2000, at St. Joseph Memorial Hospital in Murphysboro, Ill.
He was born Nov. 3, 1925, in Marion, Ill., son of Rufus and Zella Clayton Farmer. He and Ida V. Cauwels were married Jan. 21, 1948, in Chicago. She died Dec. 31, 1999.
Farmer participated in football, basketball, wrestling and track at Marion High School in the early 1940s.
He worked at General Telephone Co. 38 years, retiring in 1984. He attended St. Joseph Catholic Church in Cobden, Ill.
Farmer served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
Survivors include a son, Ronald Farmer of Greenlawn, N.Y.; two sisters, Maxine Snyder and Mary Jordan of Marion; a brother, Rufus Farmer Jr.; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna, Ill., from 6-8 p.m. Thursday.
A memorial Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph Church. The Rev. Federico Higuera will officiate.
