McCLURE, Ill. -- Millard Wayne "Skeeter" Baltzell, 68, of McClure died Tuesday, Feb. 18, 2014, at his home.
He was born Dec. 15, 1945, in Grand Tower, Ill., to William and Ruby Reed Baltzell. He and Ruth Ann Froggatt were married Oct. 31, 1964, in Murphysboro, Ill.
Millard was a U.S. Army Vietnam veteran.
He worked for the Ensign-Bickford dynamite plant more than 15 years. After retirement he enjoyed riding around the area on his "easy go" with his dog Little Bit. He loved to hunt and ride the levees of the Mississippi River. He also spent a lot of time watching his favorite TV programs on the Western channel, and he loved "spoiling" his grandchildren.
Survivors include a son, Millard Wayne Baltzell Jr. of McClure; two daughters, Kelly Renee Baltzell and Roxanne (Morris) McDaniels of McClure; a brother, Virgil Wesley Baltzell of Dallas; a sister, Frieda Faye Oyler of Grand Tower; four grandchildren, Zachary Wayne Baltzell, Joshua Ryan McDaniels, Amanda McDaniels and Alexis McDaniels; and three great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers and a sister.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the chapel, Burial will be in Lindsey Cemetery at McClure.
Memorial contributions may be given to the National Kidney Foundation.
