MARIETTA, Ga. -- Miles Robert "Bob" Donaldson, 70, of Marietta, formerly of Charleston, died Friday, April 26, 1996, at the Our Lady of Perpetual Health Hospice House in Marietta.
He was born Sept. 21, 1925, in Morehouse, son of the late Tom and Emma Whitlock Donaldson. He lived in Mississippi County most of his life, where he was employed as a baker at Kinder's Bakery in Charleston and later with the Bunge Corp. of West Memphis, Ark. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Charleston, VFW Post 4294 of Charleston and Chapter 57 of the Disabled American Veterans in Sikeston. He was a U.S. Army veteran and served in World War II and the Korean War.
He was formerly married to Dorothy Joan Parker-Miller of Diehlstadt, who survives.
Survivors include four sons, Robert Donaldson and Tim Donaldson, both of Springfield, Ill., David Donaldson of Kennesaw, Ga., and John Donaldson of Douglasville, Ga.; six daughters, Karen Bailey of Sikeston, Judy Schmidt of Portage Des Sioux, Jo Ellen Meeks of Bertrand, Patty Thompson of Carterville, Ga., Jackie Carnell of Diehlstadt and Melisa Curtis of Woodstock, Ga.; a brother, Howard Donaldson of Sikeston; two sisters, Idalene Heaton of Bloomfield and Betty Brown of Bertrand; 17 grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.
He was preceded in death by a sister.
Funeral services will be conducted in Marietta under the arrangements of Mayes-Ward-Dobbins Funeral Home. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Marietta.
