Mildred Marie "Midge" Wilson, 76, of Cape Girardeau was called to her heavenly home Thursday, Nov. 11, 2004, in Houston, Texas.
She was born Feb. 23, 1928, in Cape Girardeau.
Mildred was welcomed by her husband, Walter A. Wilson; a son, William Austin; her mother, Edith, and father, William Lafayette Johnson; and brothers, Leonard Lafayette and Larry Kent Johnson.
She is survived by a loving family which includes four sons, Walter A. Wilson Jr. and wife Debra of Inverness, Ill., Carl E. Wilson of Arden Hills, Minn., Richard B. Wilson and wife Mary of Stafford, Va., Don C. Wilson and wife Gwen of Stone Mountain, Ga.; a daughter, Ruth L. Jackson and husband Fitz of Sugar Land, Texas.
Also surviving is a niece, Joan Ross of Lovejoy, Ill.; five sisters, Mary Frances Lynch of St. Louis, Barbara Ann Stewart of Cleveland, Ohio, Joan Marlene King of Cape Girardeau, Magdalene Anita Newman and husband Henry of Sikeston, Mo., Lydia Jane Kinder of Cleveland, Ohio; two brothers, Richard Lee Johnson of Cape Girardeau, William Jerome Johnson of St. Louis; an aunt, Annie Jenkins of Cape Girardeau; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many other relatives and friends.
Mildred retired from Procter & Gamble after working there many years. After her retirement she taught in the Head Start program.
During her life she was very active in her church and the community. She was a district deputy, past matron and served as secretary of Order of Eastern Star Princess Oziel. She served as a missionary and stewardess at St. James A.M.E. Church, superintendent of the Sunday school and was a faithful member of the Senior Choir.
She will be missed for her wit, humor and ability to bring smiles to faces of those she touched.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. to service time Friday at St. James Church.
The funeral will be at noon Friday at the church, with the Rev. David Allen Sr. officiating. Burial will be in Lorimier Cemetery.
Williams Funeral Home in Charleston, Mo., is in charge of arrangements.
