JACKSON, Mo. -- Mildred Myrta Niemi, 91, of Jackson died Monday, Nov. 5, 2001, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Aug. 14, 1910, daughter of William F. and Pauline Mehner Sewing. She and Albert P. Niemi were married in 1940. He died Sept. 22, 1995.
Niemi worked in a munitions plant in St. Louis during World War II. She then was a seamstress at Carlyle Dress Co. in St. Louis. From the mid-1950s to mid-1980s she and her husband owned and operated Southwest Motel at Cherokee Pass in Fredericktown, Mo.
She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church at Fredericktown, and was active in the Fredericktown VFW Auxiliary.
Survivors include a sister, Adela Pohlmann of Chesterfield, Mo.
She was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
Friends may call at McCombs Funeral Home in Jackson after 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Funeral will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Rick L. Pettey officiating. Burial will be in Russell Heights Cemetery.
