MARBLE HILL, Mo. -- Mildred L. Collins Newell, 82, of Marble Hill died Tuesday, April 10, 2001, at Monticello Skilled Facility in Jackson, Mo.
She was born July 17, 1918, at Schlatz, Mo., daughter of John and Ethel Shell Collins. She and Herbert Harris Newell of Greenbrier, Mo., were married Nov. 1, 1939. He preceded her in death Jan. 26, 1981.
Mildred lived in Bollinger County most of her life. She was of the General Baptist belief. She was a former member of Ladd Chapel and Locust Grove General Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters and their families, Lavonne Huff and husband, Ron, of Kimberling City, Mo., Judy Ruppel and husband, Ron, of rural Oak Ridge, Mo.; three grandsons, Tom and Kevin Huff and Ronald Ruppel II; three great-grandchildren, Christopher, Megan and Brandon Huff; a brother, James Collins of Baldwin, Ill.; several nieces and nephews, including James Mansker Jr., who resided in the family home many years.
She was preceded in death by an infant daughter; a brother, Homer Collins; four sisters, Ulene Baker, Bernice Loyd, Lucille Mansker, and Louise Davis.
Friends may call at Liley Funeral Home in Marble Hill from 5-8 p.m. Thursday.
Funeral will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dale Huff officiating. Burial will be in Bollinger County Memorial Park Cemetery near Marble Hill.
