MILDRED MCDOWELL

CHARLESTON -- Mildred McDowell, 87, Charleston Route 3, died Monday, June 3, 1996, at St. Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born Sept. 27, 1908, at Fruitland, daughter of Victor and Amy Barber Tant. She and C. Wilson McDowell were married Oct. 14, 1928. He died Sept. 3, 1991.

McDowell had lived in Mississippi County since 1936. She taught school in Perry County a number of years. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church and Russell Extension Club in Jackson.

Survivors include two sons, Byron and Kenneth McDowell, Charleston Route 3; two daughters, Martha Boone of Butler, Carolyn Burcks, Charleston Route 3; a sister, Esther Been of Jackson; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren, and three great-stepgrandchildren.

Friends may call at McMikle Funeral Home in Charleston after 5 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ted Wimberley officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery at Fruitland.
