Mildred Abbott, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Monday, May 7, 2012, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born Aug. 15, 1917, in Etowah, Tenn., to Thomas H. and Katherine Lee Gary DeLaney. She and Robert M. Abbott were married March 16, 1960, in Etowah. He preceded her in death May 10, 2002.
Mildred was a member of First Christian Church in Etowah. She was an elementary teacher 39 years before retiring and moving to Cape Girardeau with her husband in 2000 to be with family.
Survivors include three nieces, Lee D. Love, Debbie D. Corse, Kathy D. Haas; a nephew, Paul H. DeLaney Jr.; eight great-nephews; two great-nieces; two great-great-nephews; and six great-great-nieces.
She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, Paul H. DeLaney and Robert G. DeLaney; a sister, E. Jean DeLaney; a niece, Katchie Kyle DeLaney; and a nephew, Gale Porter DeLaney.
Visitation will be from 3 to 3:45 p.m. Thursday at Bordwine Funeral Home in Etowah.
A graveside service will follow at 4 p.m. Thursday at Green Hill Cemetery in Etowah, with the Rev. Louis Rouse officiating.
