Michael L. Stewart Sr., 63, of Oak Ridge died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at his home. He was born July 7, 1951, in Tiptonville, Tennessee, son of James E. and Haultress Walker Stewart. He and Joyce Ann Dunn were married Nov. 12, 1971. Michael retired as a materials handler from Caterpillar in Aurora, Illinois. ...

Michael L. Stewart Sr., 63, of Oak Ridge died Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2014, at his home.

He was born July 7, 1951, in Tiptonville, Tennessee, son of James E. and Haultress Walker Stewart. He and Joyce Ann Dunn were married Nov. 12, 1971.

Michael retired as a materials handler from Caterpillar in Aurora, Illinois. He later was an independent contractor, doing home remodeling. He was a member of UAW Local 145 and Mendota Moose Lodge in Mendota, Illinois. Michael was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. He will be dearly missed.

Survivors include his wife; eight children, Christy (Darrin) Perkins of Earlville, Illinois, Michael Jr. (Sarah) Stewart of Perryville, Missouri, Joseph (Crystal) Stewart of Bell City, Missouri, Daniel (Amber) Stewart of Oak Ridge, Cassie (Sam) Hager of Perryville, Jesse (Taylor) Stewart of Jackson, Richard Stewart of Cape Girardeau and Benjamin Stewart of Oak Ridge; six siblings, James Thomas Stewart of Newburn, Tennessee, Margaret Smith of Ridgely, Tennessee, Gladys Carpenter of Paris, Tennessee, Doris Owens and Richard Stewart of Buchanan, Tennessee, and Jackie Stewart of Port Orange, Florida.

Also 13 grandchildren, Sarrina Stewart, Brianna Perkins, Kaitlin Perkins, Shelby Stewart, Thomas Stewart, Abigail Stewart, Damien Stewart, Emerald Stewart, Kahlan Stewart, Scarlett Stewart, Claire Stewart, Lucas Hager and Jaxon Hager.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Earl Stewart; and a sister, Peggy Stewart Waldron.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 6:30 a.m. until time of service Friday at Young and Sons Funeral Home.

The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tony Dyer officiating.

Memorials are preferred for family use.
