Michael L. "Mike" Noland, 61, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau. He was born Feb. 15, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, to John and Dorothy Tines Noland. Michael joined the U.S. Army on Oct. 22, 1970, and was a helicopter mechanic in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged Oct. 19, 1973...

Michael L. "Mike" Noland, 61, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Sept. 16, 2012, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau.

He was born Feb. 15, 1951, in Cape Girardeau, to John and Dorothy Tines Noland.

Michael joined the U.S. Army on Oct. 22, 1970, and was a helicopter mechanic in Vietnam. He was honorably discharged Oct. 19, 1973.

He was a career electrician, employed 30 years with K&K Electric in Jackson, and worked at several large companies throughout Southeast Missouri.

Family and friends will remember Mike for his love of auto racing, especially NASCAR.

He is survived by a sister, Pat (John) Moll of Scott City; two nephews, Shaun Noland of Pensacola, Fla., Garrett (Mecca) Moll of Scott City; a great-niece; a great-nephew; and Deb Yancey of Millersville.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. today at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

A committal service will be at 11 a.m. Friday at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Mo., with full military honors.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Disabled American Veterans or Wounded Warriors.
