Michael Walker Lamb, 54, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday evening, Dec. 27, 2023, at his home.
He was born March 26, 1969, in Cape Girardeau to Carol and Robert "Bobby" Lamb.
Michael attended Trinity Lutheran School K-8, graduated from Cape Girardeau Central High School and attended Southeast Missouri State University. Michael was a percussionist at Central High School and was a member of the symphonic, jazz, pep and Trinity bands; the orchestra; and the percussion ensemble. He and his lifelong friends formed the band The Underground. Michael was a beautiful, gifted musician and a beautiful, gifted human being.
Michael worked for IBM in the 1980s as a trouble-shooter/problem-solver, as a bricklayer, for Campbell Mattress and ended his work life with Robinson Transport Inc. He liked working in his yard, having conversations about many topics, spending time with his dog, Sissy, and playing the you know what out of his drums.
Losing Michael is indescribable. The way he chose to live his life after receiving a cancer diagnosis is an example of a positive guideline on how to conduct your life. He was surrounded, loved, supported and cheered on by some exceptional people while he faced cancer. He will always be loved, and he will always be missed.
Survivors include his two sons, Jeremy (Megan) Lamb and Jordan (Dannielle) Lamb; six beautiful grandchildren; a sister, Robin (Eric) Boyer; two nieces and two nephews; and friends he considered his family.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents, Robert "Bobby" and Carol Lamb.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The family would like to thank the staff of Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Siteman Cancer Center for the exceptional care Michael received from the time he received his diagnosis. The family would also like to thank all of the first responders.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel is in charge of arrangements.
