Michael Allen Gast, 73, passed away Thursday, April 29, 2021, at Saint Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau.

He was born March 3, 1948, in Cape Girardeau, to John E. and Lavera V. Darnell Gast

Mike attended Jackson High School. He honorably served 22 years in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1989. After his military retirement, he worked for the United States Postal Service in Portland, Maine. He later moved to Jackson, working as an electrician for K & K Electric and retiring from Marion Eye Center, both in Jackson.

Mike was an avid golfer and a member of the North Congregation of Jehovah's Witnesses in Cape Girardeau.

Loving survivors include his daughter, Julie Gilliam of Topsham, Maine; two granddaughters, Amanda (Justin) Elwell and Sydney Gilliam; a great-grandson, Sawyer; seven siblings, Tommy (Etta) Gast of Tallahassee, Florida; Darlene (Byron) Bridges of Detroit, Michigan; Johnny (Linda) Gast of Jackson; Mary Lawrence of Jackson; Danny (Patti) Gast of Bull Shoals, Arkansas; Don (Becky) Gast of Fruitland; and Terri (Art) Woods of Jackson.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

A celebration of life service will be held at a later date with inurnment at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield, Missouri.
