PERRYVILLE, Mo. -- Merlin A. "Mert" Kline, 61, of Perryville died Thursday, July 13, 2006, at his home.
He was born Sept. 19, 1944, in Perry County, son of Henry J. and Mary Mattingly Kline. He and Wilma Lawrence were married May 6, 1967, at Perryville.
Kline was an electrician with Mississippi Lime Co. He was a member of Christ the Savior Catholic Church at Brewer, Mo., and American Legion Post 133 in Perryville. He was an Eagle Scout.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Stephanie Neuling and Jill Kline of Perryville; three brothers, Art Kline of Perryville, Edgar Kline of Fenton, Mo., Vincent Kline of St. Louis; four sisters, Catherine Kline of San Francisco, Calif., Mildred Griesemer of Springfield, Mo., Zelma Penny of Fort Worth, Texas, Theresa Kelly of St. Louis; and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister.
Friends may call at Miller Family Funeral Home from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday, and Monday from 6:30 to 9:30 a.m. The parish wake will be at 7 p.m. Sunday, followed by the American Legion service at 7:15. The rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. Monday.
The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Christ the Savior Church, with the Rev. Felipe Martinez officiating. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery.
