JONESBORO, Ill. -- Merle W. Dallas Sr., 46, of Jonesboro died Monday, Jan. 10, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
He was born Nov. 13, 1953, in Phoenix, Ariz., son of Lee and Clara Martin Dallas. He and Sherry Darlene Merriman were married Nov. 27, 1976, in Alto Pass.
Dallas was employed by the city of Jonesboro Utilities Department. He was a member of Anna Church of the Nazarene. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Merle Dallas Jr. of Anna; a daughter, Sara Spurlock of Jonesboro; his mother of Anna; two sisters, Carolyn Musgrave of Anna, Mary Lee Dallas of Phoenix; and a grandson.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Ralph Lee officiating. Burial will be in Alto Pass Cemetery, with graveside rites by VFW Post 3455 in Anna.
