MELVIN MCMACKINS

SIKESTON -- Funeral service for Melvin McMackins of Sikeston will be held at 11 a.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home. The Rev. Billie Fair will officiate, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 9 a.m. until time of service.

McMackins, 82, died Sunday, Nov. 30, 1997, at Missouri Delta Medical Center.

He was born June 8, 1915, in Vail, Tenn., son of Hubert and Eula Turner McMackins. He and Mildred Huntley were married Feb. 23, 1941, in St. Louis.

McMackins was a member of First Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife; three sons, Stephen McMackins of San Diego, Calif., Stanley McMackins of West Covina, Calif., William McMackins of St. Paul, Minn.; two sisters, Berdie Kausch of Arnold, Velna O'Connor of Pine, Ark.; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers, and a sister.
