MORLEY, Mo. -- Melvin Curtis, 48, of Morley passed away Monday, Jan. 20, 2014, at his home, surrounded by family.

He was born Feb. 2, 1965, in Chaffee, Mo., to the late Herman Clyde and Rosa Mae Brown Curtis Sr. He and Toni Heeb were married Dec. 6, 2008.

Melvin served in the Missouri National Guard.

He was a self-employed plumber.

Loving survivors include his wife; three sons, Kevin and Chris Curtis of Bell City, Mo., and Zachary Curtis of Morley; two stepsons, Austin Edwards and Blake Bruenderman of Morley; a brother, Clyde (Tammy) Curtis Jr. of Morley; three sisters, Karla (Larry) Seyer of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii, Barbara (Karl) Heisserer of Indianapolis and Susan "Suzie" (William) Martin of Osage Beach, Mo.; stepmother, Lucille Curtis of Morley; two grandchildren, Kaidin and Addison; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was also preceded in death by two nephews, Curt and Rob Heisserer.

Friends may call after 5 p.m. today at Ponder Funeral Home in Sikeston, Mo.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home, with the Rev. David Thompson officiating. Burial will be in Forest Hills Memorial Gardens near Morley.
