PERRYVILLE -- Melvin Anton Brewer, 67, of Perryville died Saturday, Oct. 4, 1997, at his home.
He was born Feb. 20, 1930, in Perry County, son of Edgar and Clorcie Wingerter Brewer.
He was a machinist with Meramac Mining Co. before his retirement. He served in the Navy during the Korean War.
He was a member of Our Lady of Victory Parish in Sereno, the American Legion in Perryville and the Cape Girardeau VFW.
Survivors include his mother of Perryville; three sons, Stephen Brewer of Dillard, Mark Brewer of Farmington and Dennis Brewer of Desloge; two daughters, Mona McCarver of Desloge and Susan Boyer of Park Hills; two brothers, Wilbert and Earl Brewer, both of Perryville; two sisters, Dolores Buchheit and Wanda Berkbigler, both of Perryville; and six grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his father and a brother.
Friends may call from 4-9 p.m. today at the Miller Family Funeral Home in Perryville. A parish wake service will be held at 7 p.m., followed by an American Legion service at 7:30 p.m.
Friends also may call from 6:30-9:40 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Rosary will be recited at 9 a.m. at the funeral home.
Funeral mass will celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Victory Church. The Rev. Francis Agnew will officiate, with burial in Mount Hope Cemetery.
