Melva Marie Mirly, 89, of Jackson passed away Sunday, Dec. 16, 2018, at Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau.
One of 11 children, Melva was born July 14, 1929, in Tilsit to Ferdinand and Alma Loos Lange. Melva married Walter A. Mirly on Nov. 28, 1948, at Immanuel Church. Five children were born to their union, and they had been married 27 years, when Walter passed away March 15, 1975.
She was baptized and confirmed at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Tilsit and attended the former Immanuel Grade School.
Melva worked 29 years at Deal Nursing Home in Jackson. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Jackson.
Loving survivors include five children, Diane (Don) Schaefer of Cape Girardeau, Carol (Lloyd) Prenger of Jefferson City, Missouri, and Michael (Cindy) Mirly, Mary (Charlie) Ludwig and Ricky (Jo Ann) Mirly, all of Jackson; 11 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and two siblings, Walter Lange and Adela Moore, both of Jackson.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; six adult siblings, Thekla Kuntze, Hilda Hauenschild, Elda Loenneke, Hulda James, Elfrieda Lange and Richard Lange; and two young siblings, Thelma Lange and Ritor Lange.
Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Wednesday at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.
Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Jason Shaw officiating. Burial will follow at Russell Heights Cemetery in Jackson.
