Melonie Wehmeyer Phillips, daughter of Peggy Wehmeyer Kennedy of Randles and the late Larry Wehmeyer, was born Oct. 27, 1972, in Cape Girardeau and departed this life Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2020, at Saint Francis Medical Center in Cape Girardeau at the age of 47.

Melonie was a homemaker and a 1991 graduate of Delta High School, where she made many lifelong friends who dearly loved her. She enjoyed nights of karaoke with her friends, singing her favorite songs of Reba and Patsy. Melonie was also an online writer, publishing short stories. Her passion was being a mother to her children.

On Sept. 14, 2002, she was united in marriage to Bobby Gene Phillips in Delta. He preceded her in death Jan. 25, 2017.

Besides her mother, Peggy Kennedy, she is survived by her stepfather, James Kennedy of Randles; stepmother, Linda Proctor of Benton, Missouri; son, Isaac Phillips of Benton; daughter, Sarah Phillips of Benton; brothers, Jason Kennedy of Randles, James (Audrey) Kennedy of Patton, Missouri, and Shannon (Amanda) Dow of Scott City; sisters, Lisa Kennedy Manuel of Advance, Missouri, and Ladonna Kennedy of Jackson; paternal grandmother, JoAnn Wehmeyer of Thebes, Illinois; and several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and father, she was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Betty and Don Hanebrink, and paternal grandfather, Melvin Wehmeyer.

Visitation will be from 9:30 until 11 a.m. Monday at Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Chaffee, Missouri.

Funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. Monday in Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield.
