ROLLA, Mo. -- Melford Lee James, 88, of Rolla passed due to COVID complications in the early morning hours of Friday, Jan. 8, 2021, at Cedar Pointe Care Center.
He was the son of Lawrence and Lydia James, who are deceased, of Cape Girardeau.
He is survived by his wife, Helen of Rolla; a sister, Melba of Columbus, Ohio; and his children, Brenda Singleton of Jackson, Beverly Pulliam of Jackson, Tammy Smith of Cordova, Tennessee, and Bobby James of Pevely, Missouri; seven grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.
He will long be remembered for his love of family, fishing, hunting and boating. He loved to restore aging vehicles. He had a big heart and loved to cook for others. His physical presence will be missed even though he, as spirit, lives eternally.
A private family service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the mausoleum at Cape County Memorial Park in Cape Girardeau. Interment will follow.
