Melba M. Job, 91, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, April 9, 2014, at Auburn Creek Assisted Living Facility in Cape Girardeau.
She was born Oct. 15, 1922, in Diehlstadt, Mo., to Clarence and Helen Gist Moore. She and Paul Job were married June 14, 1941. He preceded her in death May 2, 2002.
Melba was a waitress at Marquette Hotel and the Purple Crackle before retiring in 1965. She was a member of St. Mary Cathedral in Cape Girardeau and an avid member of its quilting group. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, gardening and bingo.
She is survived by three children, Paula Myers (Frank) of Cape Girardeau, Stephen Job (Mari) of Oskaloosa, Iowa, and Lisa Rouse (Mike) of Jackson; six grandchildren, Jon Gurley (Julie), Jeff Gurley, Tina Meyr (Gary), Cody Rouse (Rachel), Clay Rouse and Tracey Garza (Javier); and nine great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; a son, Larence "Larry" Job; and a sister.
Friends and family may gather from 9 a.m. until time of service Saturday at Crain Funeral Home. A prayer service will be at 10:30 a.m., with the Rev. Tom Kiefer as celebrant.
Memorial contributions may be made to St. Mary Cathedral or Crown Hospice and will be accepted at the funeral home.
