JONESBORO, Ill. -- Meda Mathis, 98, of Waltonville, died Sunday, April 2, 1995, at Jeffersonian Care Center in Mt. Vernon.
She was born Nov. 4, 1896, in Reynoldsville, daughter of George and Susan Knupp Rhymer. She married Eugene Lee Gifford in 1916, who died Jan. 5, 1922. She later married George P. Mathis June 23, 1925. He died Sept. 22, 1975.
Mathis was a member of Reynoldsville Baptist Church.
Survivors include two sons, Lester Gifford of Portland, Ore., George Gifford of Waltonville; three daughters, Ruth Dellinger of DeFuniak Springs, Fla., Louise Pruett of Perryville, Juanita Long of Waltonville; 28 grandchildren; 45 great-grandchildren, and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Friends may call at Hileman and Parr Funeral Home in Jonesboro from 5-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Mark Gifford officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.
