MARQUAND, Mo. -- May Dowdy, 78, of Marquand passed away Saturday, Feb. 19, 2011, at Southeast Hospital in Cape Girardeau.
She was born May 2, 1932, in Chicago, daughter of Edward L. and Edna May Alborn Walsh. She and Billy F. Dowdy were married Jan. 30, 1955. He passed away Jan. 9, 1984.
Mrs. Dowdy was a retired seamstress with Primrose Lane Bridal Shop in Jackson. She was a member of Mount Carmel Baptist Church.
Survivors include a son, Warren F. Dowdy of Marquand; three daughters, Cheryl M. Dowdy of Marietta, Ga., Linda M. and Randy Fulton of Patton, Mo., Rebecca D. and Kenneth Forester of Jackson; an adopted daughter, Vongthet Bouapha of St. Louis; a brother, Edward Walsh of Sun City, Ariz.; a nephew, Matt Shuttleworth of Decatur, Ala.; three nieces, Bobby Fay Shuttleworth of Decatur, Pam Gump, Terri Thompson; four grandsons, Trent and Amanda Forester, Joshua Fulton, Daniel Forester, Heath Fulton; an adopted granddaughter, Crystal Phetmany Lewis; and a great-grandson, Braylen Forester.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; twin sons, David and Daniel Dowdy; and a brother, Warren Walsh.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Liley Funeral Home in Patton, and from 10 a.m. to service time Thursday at Mount Carmel Baptist Church.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at the church, with the Rev. Brian Anderson officiating. Burial will be in Union Light Cemetery near Marquand.
