Maxine Payne Metje, 94, of Cape Girardeau died Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2017, at the Lutheran Home.
She was born March 12, 1922, in Marked Tree, Arkansas, to Harry A. and Mayme Payne Keith.
She and Walter Metje were married June 26, 1943, at Sikeston, Missouri.
He preceded her in death Sept. 20, 1983.
Maxine was close to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She loved spending time with her son and daughter-in-law's dog, Molly. Additionally, she enjoyed working in her flower garden.
Maxine was a member of Grace United Methodist Church.
Survivors include her son, Joe (Fran) Metje of Cape Girardeau; two grandchildren, Brent Metje and Travis (Sherry) Metje; and four great-grandchildren, Hunter, Kolt, Garrett and Miranda Metje.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and two brothers, Harry and Joe Keith.
Friends may call from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. Monday at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.
Memorial service will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Tom Sullenger officiating.
