SIKESTON, Mo. -- Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Max Robert Miller, 80, of Sikeston died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. SIKESTON, Mo. -- Retired U.S. Air Force Lt. Col. Max Robert Miller, 80, of Sikeston died Wednesday, April 30, 2003, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau.

He was born April 23, 1923, at Puxico, Mo., son of Ethridge and Nettie Patterson Miller. He and Colleen Alsup were married Nov. 29, 1945, in St. Louis.

Miller was a pilot and staff officer in the Air Force. He was a member of Masonic Lodge 310 in Sikeston, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post in Charleston, Mo., and Disabled American Veterans in Dexter, Mo.

Survivors include his wife; a son, Bob Miller of Sikeston; a daughter, Elizabeth Michailoff of Camano Island, Wash.; three sisters, Nadine Johnson of Kevil, Ky., Jean Gilley of Litchfield, Ill., and June Brown of Brooklet, Ga.

He was preceded in death by a daughter, two brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Hunter Memorial First Presbyterian Church in Sikeston after 1:30 p.m. today.

A memorial service will be held at 3:30 p.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Rufus McLean officiating. A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday at Bluff Cemetery in Idalia, Mo., with Dr. Tom Bass officiating.

Rainey-Mathis Funeral Home at Dexter is in charge of arrangements.
