DEXTER -- Max R. Davis, 76, of Dexter died Tuesday, Feb. 23, 1999, at Beverly Health and Rehabilitation Center.
He was born Feb. 22, 1923, in Sardis, Tenn., son of James Wilson and Fachel Irene Ross Davis. He and Imogene L. Steele were married Feb. 17, 1948, in Piggott, Ark.
Davis was a retired truck driver. He moved to Dexter in 1978 from Lindsay, Calif.
Survivors include his wife; two sons, Bobby Davis of Bakersfield, Calif., Terry Davis of Dexter; three sisters, Sue Orput, Katie Oldfather, and Muriel Schultz, all of Peru, Ind.; eight grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.
Graveside service will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Chalk Bluff Cemetery near Dexter. The Rev. Bob Wiggins will officiate.
