Maureen Rogers LaFont Anderson passed from this earth Sunday, Oct. 1, 2023, at her home in Cape Girardeau at 95 years young.

She was born May 8, 1928, to Clarence and Maudie Rogers in Portageville, Missouri. In 1946, she married Samuel "Gene" LaFont at St. Eustachius Catholic Church in Portageville. Born to Gene and Maureen were their sons, Rickey LaFont of Cape Girardeau and Patrick LaFont, Sikeston, Missouri, who survives. In 1965, Maureen married Torsen "Bugsy" Anderson in Fort Worth, Texas, and he preceded her in death in 1995.

Maureen enjoyed life to the fullest in DeCordova Bend Estates in Granbury, Texas. Golfing, bridge and entertaining and table-scaping were her passions.

She restored and collected dolls from the 18th and 19th centuries. She helped manage Wagon Yard Antiques in Granbury for many years. She relished and enjoyed making custom period doll clothing and sewing for others. She was an excellent seamstress until the end of her life.

She was one of the country's renowned top period doll collectors, having sold to celebrities and all who loved vintage dolls.

Along with her sons, Maureen is survived by a daughter-in-law, Terry Brewer-LaFont of Sikeston; grandson, Lance (Tara) LaFont of Oxford, Mississippi; stepgrandson, Jared (Ashley) Brewer of Sikeston; great-granddaughters, Brie and Wesley Claire LaFont of Oxford; sister, Polly (Alan) Ward of Gainesville, Florida; and brother, Michael (Martha) Rogers of Steele, Alabama. She will be missed by many nieces and nephews and friends.

Preceding Maureen in death, besides her parents, were a brother, Dale Rogers of St. Louis, and sister, Imogene Clark of Portageville.

Her inurnment will be by her mother's grave site in Steele.

Maureen adored her cat, Freckles. In honor of her love of animals, the family requests memorials be made to Sikeston "PAWS" Pet and Animal Welfare Services, 1900 Compress Road, BB Highway, Sikeston, MO 63801 or Safe Harbor Animal Sanctuary, 359 Cree Lane, Jackson, MO 63755.

Hutchings-Pendergrass Funeral Chapel in Marble Hill, Missouri, is in charge of the arrangements.
