Maude B. Werner, 90, of Cape Girardeau died Tuesday, May 6, 1997, at her home.
She was born Sept. 21, 1906, in Rector, Ark., daughter of Hardy and Stella Provience. She and Clarence Werner were married Aug. 13, 1927, in Arkansas. He died June 2, 1976.
Mr. and Mrs. Werner co-founded Werner's Market with his cousin, Alvin Werner, Dec. 1, 1935. She had been active in the business until 1996. She was a member of First Christian Church. Werner attended Central High School.
Survivors include a son, Kenneth Werner of Cape Girardeau; and a sister, Ruth Davis of Bakersfield, Calif.
She was preceded in death by two brothers.
Friends may call at Ford and Sons Mt. Auburn Chapel from 4-8 p.m. today.
Funeral service will be at 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel, with the Rev. Phil Curran officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park.
