Matthew Ray "Rottenpants" Eakins, 5, of Scott City died Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2011, at Children's Hospital in St. Louis.
He was born Aug. 31, 2006, in Cape Girardeau, to Kevin Ray and Heather Dawn Compass Eakins.
Matthew is survived by his parents; paternal grandparents, Alan and Donna Eakins of Jackson; maternal grandparents, Larry and Kim Compass of Scott City; paternal great-grandmother, Wilma Knowlton of Jackson; maternal great-grandparents, Alvina Compass of Scott City and Pete and Waneta Cooper of Cape Girardeau; two aunts, Brandi Compass and Jessica (Darren) Wehmeyer of Scott City; and an uncle, Mike Eakins of Nicholasville, Ky.
Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until time of celebration today at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Scott City.
A celebration of Matt's life will be at 7:30 p.m. today at the church, with the Rev. Oliver Clavin as celebrant.
Mattman requests people to wear bright cheery colors and come with smiles.
Amick-Burnett Funeral Chapel in Scott City is in charge of arrangements.
