THEBES, Ill. -- Mason McHughs, 11, of Thebes died Tuesday, Aug. 22, 2023, at Cardinal Glennon Children's Hospital in St. Louis.

He was born Feb. 16, 2012, in Cape Girardeau to Joseph McHughs and Megan Bomar.

Mason loved baseball, hunting, fishing, four-wheeling and the color pink.

Survivors include his parents, Joseph (Hattie Morrow) McHughs of Thebes and Megan Bomar of Chaffee, Missouri; brother, Cohen McHughs of Chaffee; maternal grandparents, Matt and Angie Baker of Gordonville; maternal grandmother, Dana Baker of Fruitland; paternal grandparents, Hope and Jack McHughs of Thebes; maternal great-grandmother, Jeanine Bomar of Fruitland; maternal great-grandmother, Janet Nicholson of Jackson; and two uncles, Hunter Bomar of Fruitland and Josh McHughs of Thebes.

Mason was preceded in death by an aunt, Brittany Paige Bomar; maternal great-grandfather, Gary Bomar; maternal great-grandparents, Karen and John Baker; and paternal great-grandparents, Kitty and Bob Hale and Vernon and Dixie McHughs.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 29, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Funeral Home in Cape Girardeau.

Funeral will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 30, at Connection Point Church in Jackson, with the Rev. Dr. Chris Vaught officiating. Burial will be at Cape County Memorial Park Cemetery in Cape Girardeau.

Memorial contributions may be given to Cardinal Glennon Children's Foundation, 3800 Park Ave., Saint Louis, MO 63110.
