SIKESTON, Mo. -- Mary Agnes Yant, 79, died Saturday, April 17, 2010, at Sikeston Convalescent Center.
She was born May 23, 1930, in Caledonia, Miss., to Finus and Jewell Woods Hamlett. She and John Wesley Yant were married Feb. 13, 1954, at Morley, Mo. He preceded her in death Sept. 3, 1994.
Yant was a member of Christian Tabernacle.
Survivors include four sons, Randy Yant of Sikeston, Mark Yant of Bertrand, Mo., David Yant of Fenton, Mo., Steven Yant of East Prairie, Mo.; three brothers, Gerald Hamlett of Versailles, Mo., Jackie Hamlett of Kalamazoo, Mich., Gary Hamlett of Springfield, Mo.; three sisters, Shirley Casey of Niles, Mich., Barbara Smith of Cape Girardeau, Alice Adams of Shelby Township, Mich.; 10 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, a grandson and two sisters.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Blanchard Funeral Chapel.
The funeral will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the chapel, with her brother, the Rev. Gerald Hamlett, pastor of United Pentecostal Church in Versailles, officiating. He will be assisted by the Rev. E.J. McDugal, pastor of Christian Tabernacle. Burial will be in Garden of Memories Cemetery.
