TAMMS, Ill. -- Mary Sue Thornton, 77, of Tamms died Monday, June 12, 2006, at Jonesboro Health Care.
She was born Oct. 5, 1928, in Paris, Tenn., daughter of Willie J. and Macy Pearl Ownby Abernathy. She married James Thornton March 27, 1948.
Thornton was a member of Tamms United Methodist Church and was pianist for more than 40 years.
Survivors include her husband; three daughters, Mary Nunn and Dee Vaughn of Tamms, Judi Collins of Tallahassee, Fla.; three sisters, Elizabeth Lawrence of Anna, Ill., Jane Carroll and Margie Davidson of Nashville, Tenn.; a brother, Claude Abernathy of California; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a brother.
Friends may call at Crain Funeral Home in Tamms from 11:30 a.m. to service time Friday.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, at the funeral home, with the Rev. Herman Lawrence officiating. Burial will be in McCrite Cemetery.
