MARY SCHERER

Mary C. Scherer, 93, of Cape Girardeau died Thursday, June 22, 2000, at Southeast Missouri Hospital.

She was born Sept. 29, 1906, in Scott County, daughter of Andrew and Josephine Diebold Wiedefeld. She and Toney Scherer were married April 16, 1925. He died in 1986.

Scherer was a cook at Al's Midtown, retiring in 1986. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.

Survivors include two daughters, Pat Schabbing of Cape Girardeau, Darlene Summers of St. Louis; eight grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by a daughter, Celestine Kohlfeld; two sons; four brothers; and two sisters.

Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Ford and Sons Sprigg Street Chapel. Parish prayers will be at 7.

Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Vincent de Paul Church, with the Rev. Milton Ryan officiating. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
