DEXTER -- Mary Blanche Scates, 77, of Dexter died Tuesday, May 26, 1998, at Central Gardens Residential Care Center.
She was born Nov. 17, 1920, in Fairfield, Ill., daughter of John and Rose Masterson Musgraves. She and James Scates were married March 27, 1937, at Dexter. He died in 1979.
Formerly of Eldorado, Ill., she had resided in Dexter the past few years. She was a member of Raleigh Methodist Church in Raleigh, Ill.
Survivors include two sons, Michael Scates of Raleigh, N.C., James Scates of Marion, Ohio; two brothers, J.W. and Ernest Musgraves of Dexter; five sisters, Imogene Harper of Bloomfield, Melba Billsbrough of Flint, Mich., Shirley Chrisman, Rema Lang and Irene Balkenbush, all of Dexter; four grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by two brothers and a sister.
Friends may call at Watkins and Sons Funeral Home in Dexter from 5-8 p.m. today.
Graveside service will be at 3 p.m. Saturday at Lindale Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Eldorado, with the Rev. Paul Brown officiating.
