Mary Lena Proffer, 87, of Jackson died Thursday, July 14, 2016, at the Monticello House.
She was born Sept, 12, 1928, in Flint, Michigan, to James Robert and Violet Robeca Ussery Taylor.
Mary was a care giver specializing in in-home health care.
She is survived by four daughters, Ella Jean (John) Moore, Dorothy Ann (Kenny) Sides and Jackie Sue (Tyson) Norman, all of Oak Ridge, and Doris Elane (David) Jones of Millersville; a son, W.J. (Cheryl) Proffer of Millersville; a daughter-in-law, Patty Proffer of Cape Girardeau; a sister, Anna Marie Haupt of Owensville, Missouri; 18 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; and 15 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her life partner, Ivan Orsland; a son, Bruce Wayne Proffer; a sister, Janet Lavern Dalton; and a grandson, Robbie Proffer.
Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Ford and Sons Funeral Home in Jackson.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Monday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Janet Hopkins officiating. Burial will be in Patton Cemetery in Patton, Missouri.
