A memorial service for Mary Janice Marlin, her husband, Charles Lester Marlin, and his brother, Gilbert L. Marlin, will be held Sunday at the gravesite of Lester B. and Tommie Marlin at Hobbs Chapel Cemetery.

Mrs. Marlin, 82, died Jan. 19, 2006, in Rock Falls, Ill.

She was born July 26, 1923, in Cape Girardeau, daughter of William and Verda Stroder Criddle. She and Charles Lester Marlin were married Sept. 28, 1940.

She had been a teacher at Dillon School in Sterling, Ill.

Chester Marlin, 48, died April 29, 1968, in Orange County, Calif.

He was born Sept. 9, 1919, in Murphysboro, Ill., son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Marlin.

He had worked for Missouri Utilities Co. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.

Mary and Chester Marlin are survived by three daughters, Diane Gilliland of Robertsville, Mo., Jo Dawn Lehman of Rock Falls, Lesha Ranjel of Houston; a son, Brady Marlin of Faribault, Minn.; 11 grandchildren; five stepgrandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Mary is also survived by two brothers, James Criddle of Whitewater and Dewey Criddle of Rock Falls. Chester is also survived by a brother, Bill Marlin of Ironton, Mo.; three sisters, Mary Crites of Cape Girardeau, Delores Luton of St. Louis, and Peggy Brumley of Phoenix.

Mary was preceded in death by a brother, and Charles by a sister.

Gilbert Marlin, 62, died Oct. 27, 1984, in St. Louis.

He was born Sept. 3, 1922, in Murphysboro, son of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Marlin.

Gilbert was a retired truck driver. He was a veteran of World War II, serving three years overseas.

Survivors include three sons, Mark Marlin of Jackson, Van Marlin of Cape Girardeau, Joe Marlin of Poplar Bluff, Mo.; a stepson, Michael Stillings of Poplar Bluff; a stepdaughter, Mindy Stillings of Poplar Bluff; a brother, Bill Marlin; three sisters, Mary Crites, Delores Luton, Peggy Brumley; and grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and a sister.
