WOLF LAKE, Ill. -- Mary M. Abernathy, 76, of Wolf Lake, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 1994. She was born May 24, 1918, in Alto Pass, daughter of Arvie and Amma Burnett York. She and Leonard E. Abernathy were married May 24, 1934, at Jackson. He died Dec. 24, 1988...

WOLF LAKE, Ill. -- Mary M. Abernathy, 76, of Wolf Lake, died Sunday, Aug. 28, 1994.

She was born May 24, 1918, in Alto Pass, daughter of Arvie and Amma Burnett York. She and Leonard E. Abernathy were married May 24, 1934, at Jackson. He died Dec. 24, 1988.

Abernathy was a retired cook from Wolf Lake Grade School, and was a member of Wolf Lake United Methodist Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Joyce Ring of Wolf Lake; two brothers, Roy York of Granite City, Troy York of Mt. Olive; six grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by a son, grandson, three brothers and a sister.

Friends may call at Lutz and Rendleman Funeral Home in Anna from 6-8 p.m. today.

Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home, with the Rev. John Prather officiating. Burial will be in Jonesboro Cemetery.
